What can you do “on your own”? Perhaps more than you realize. Start with prayer and personal commitment. Then check these suggestions:

Ideas for Praying

These are simply ideas-–the task is for you to find what God wants you to do

  • Begin by praying that Christ will open people’s hearts. Pray that God’s love, hope and peace will be evident through us as we minister and witness to people.
  • Participate/lead prayer time through the Texas Hope 2010 prayer guide.
  • Start a prayer team at your work, school, organization or even home that people will come to know Christ by Easter 2010.
  • Be part of 1200 – a group of people committed to pray every day for those who don’t have enough to eat and those who do not know Christ. Why 1200? Well, it’s noon and you may be fortunate enough to have lunch and already know the love of Christ.

Ideas for Caring

These are simply ideas – the task is for you to find what God wants you to do

  • Volunteer at your local Food Bank or soup kitchen.
  • Start a hunger ministry through your church.
  • Give to the Texas Baptist Offering for World Hunger.
  • Start or strengthen the Texas Baptist Offering for World Hunger at your church.
  • Carry gift cards to a local fast food or other restaurant and hand them out when you are asked for money for food.
  • Buy/make an extra plate of food for lunch and take it to a needy person you pass by every day.

Ideas for Sharing

These are simply ideas—the task is for you to find what God wants you to do

  • Pray for people’s hearts to be opened to Christ’s message of Hope and for the courage to share it with people you meet.
  • Lead your church or group in various types of event evangelism like block parties, picnics, soccer/sport tournaments, etc. Other ideas and examples.
  • Equip yourself for talking with people of other religions
  • Reading resource is Oscar Thompson’s book Concentric Circles of Concern.
  • Attend one of the Engage events around the state for inspiration and training
